The sound of dread is always in his ears: and when there is peace he always suspecteth treason.

Go not out into the fields, nor walk in the highway: for the sword of the enemy and fear is on every side.

They shall take their tents and their flocks: and shall carry off for themselves their curtains and all their vessels and their camels: and they shall call fear upon them round about.

What then? I have seen them dismayed and turning their backs, their valiant ones slain. They fled apace and they looked not back: terror was round about, saith the Lord.

The sword is drawn out, and cometh forth from its scabbard, and glittereth in his bitterness: the terrible ones shall go and come upon him.

And as to them that shall remain of you I will send fear in their hearts in the countries of their enemies. The sound of a flying leaf shall terrify them: and they shall flee as it were from the sword. They shall fall, when no man pursueth them.

Knowing therefore the fear of the Lord, we use persuasion to men; but to God we are manifest. And I trust also that in your consciences we are manifest.

The wicked man fleeth, when no man pursueth: but the just, bold as a lion, shall be without dread.

Deliver not up to beasts the souls that confess to thee: and forget not to the end the souls of thy poor.

For strangers have risen up against me; and the mighty have sought after my soul: and they have not set God before their eyes.

As a dream that fleeth away he shall not be found: he shall pass as a vision of the night:

For the arrows of the Lord are in me, the rage whereof drinketh up my spirit: and the terrors of the Lord war against me.

A gin is hidden for him in the earth: and his trap upon the path.

He shall drive him out of light into darkness, and shall remove him out of the world.

Whensoever it shall pass through, it shall take you away, because in the morning early it shall pass through, in the day and in the night: and vexation alone shall make you understand what you hear.

And Saul saw the army of the Philistines, and was afraid: and his heart was very much dismayed.

Therefore art thou surrounded with snares: and sudden fear troubleth thee.

Poverty like water shall take hold on him: a tempest shall oppress him in the night.
