By so much is Jesus made a surety of a better testament.

I will cry like a young swallow, I will meditate like a dove: my eyes are weakened looking upward. Lord, I suffer violence, answer thou for me.

He shall be afflicted with evil, that is surety for a stranger: but he that is aware of the snares, shall be secure.

Let me be that proper servant, who took him into my trust, and promised, saying: If I bring him not again, I will be guilty of sin against my father for ever.

I take the boy upon me; require him at my hand. Unless I bring him again, and restore him to thee, I will be guilty of sin against thee for ever.

There is none that may be able to reprove both, and to put his hand between both.

Be not with them that fasten down their hands, and that offer themselves sureties for debts:

Take away the garment of him that is surety for a stranger, and take a pledge from him for strangers.

A foolish man will clap hands, when he is surety for his friend.

And want shall come upon thee, as a traveller, and poverty as a man armed. But if thou be diligent, thy harvest shall come as a fountain, and want shall flee far from thee.

Call now if there be any that will answer thee, and turn to some of the saints.
