Phe. All thy enemies have opened their mouth against thee: they have hissed and gnashed with the teeth, and have said: We will swallow her up. Lo, this is the day which we looked for: we have found it, we have seen it.

Why hidest thou thy face, and thinkest me thy enemy?

Now hearing these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed with their teeth at him.

In their affliction they will rise early to me: Come, and let us return to the Lord:

My friends and my neighbours have drawn near, and stood against me. And they that were near me stood afar off:

His wrath is kindled against me: and he hath counted me as his enemy.

Thou that destroyest thy soul in thy fury, shall the earth be forsaken for thee; and shall rocks be removed out of their place?

Rejoice not, thou, my enemy, over me, because I am fallen: I shall arise, when I sit in darkness, the Lord is my light.

For I will be like a lioness to Ephraim, and like a lion's whelp to the house of Juda: I, I will catch, and go: I will take away, and there is none that can rescue.

Thou hast put my feet in the stocks, and hast observed all my paths, and hast considered the steps of my feet:

Thou art changed to be cruel toward me: and in the hardness of thy hand thou art against me.

Because he hath found complaints against me, therefore he hath counted me for his enemy.

For the arrows of the Lord are in me, the rage whereof drinketh up my spirit: and the terrors of the Lord war against me.
