But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

I said in my heart concerning the sons of men, that God would prove them, and shew them to be like beasts.

Arise, O God, judge thy own cause: remember thy reproaches with which the foolish man hath reproached thee all the day.

In which also we all conversed in time past, in the desires of our flesh, fulfilling the will of the flesh and of our thoughts, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest:

Being of one mind one towards another. Not minding high things, but consenting to the humble. Be not wise in your own conceits.

For professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.

A wild ass accustomed to the wilderness in the desire of his heart snuffed up the wind of his love: none shall turn her away. All that seek her shall not fail: in her monthly filth they shall find her.

Thou hast loved malice more than goodness: and iniquity rather than to speak righteousness.

And he said to man: Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom: and to depart from evil, is understanding.

What is man that he should be without spot, and he that is born of a woman that he should appear just?

Will the wild ass bray when he hath grass? Or will the ox low when he standeth before a full manger?

Who catcheth the wise in their craftiness, and disappointeth the counsel of the wicked.

Blessed is the man whose trust is in the name of the Lord; and who hath not had regard to vanities, and lying follies.

I have not hid thy justice within my heart: I have declared thy truth and thy salvation. I have not concealed thy mercy and thy truth from a great council.

Generation and generation shall praise thy works: and they shall declare thy power.

Vanity of vanities, said Ecclesiastes vanity of vanities, and all is vanity.

Remove anger from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh. For youth and pleasure are vain.
