Because they have deceived my people, saying: Peace, and there is no peace: and the people built up a wall: and they daubed it with dirt without straw.
They say to them that blaspheme me: The Lord hath said, You shall have peace. And to every one that walketh in the perverseness of his own heart they have said: No evil shall come to you.
And I said: Alas, alas, alas, O Lord God, hast thou then deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying: You shall have peace? And, Behold, the sword reacheth even to the soul.
Nun. Thy prophets have seen false and foolish things for thee: and they have not laid open thy iniquity, to excite thee to penance: but they have seen for thee false revelations and banishments.
And I said: Ah, ah, ah, O Lord God, the prophets say to them: You shall not see the sword, and there shall be no famine among you, but he will give you true peace in this place.

And the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days: in the day when the Lord shall bind up the wound of his people and shall heal the stroke of their wound.

Who say to the seers: See not. And to them that behold: Behold not for us those things that are right. Speak unto us pleasant things: see errors for us.
And when the prophet shall err and speak a word: I the Lord have deceived that prophet: and I will stretch forth my hand upon him and will cut him off from the midst of my people Israel.
Thus saith the Lord concerning the prophets that make my people err: that bite with their teeth, and preach peace: and if a man give not something into their mouth, they prepare war against him.
