Therefore, behold, the days come, and I will visit the idols of Babylon: and her whole land shall be confounded and all her slain shall fall in the midst of her.
Declare ye among the nations and publish it, lift up a standard: proclaim and conceal it not. Say: Babylon is taken, Bel is confounded, Merodach is overthrown, their graven things are confounded, their idols are overthrown.
Behold, this man cometh, the rider upon the chariot with two horsemen. And he answered and said: Babylon is fallen, she is fallen, and all the graven gods thereof are broken unto the ground.
And when the seventy years shall be expired, I will punish the king of Babylon and that nation, saith the Lord, for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans: and I will make it perpetual desolations.
What wilt thou say when he shall visit thee? For thou hast taught them against thee and instructed them against thy own head. Shall not sorrows lay hold on thee, as a woman in labour?
Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts: Behold, I will visit upon them: and their young men shall die by the sword, their sons and their daughters shall die by famine.
