Scale down the walls thereof and throw them down, but do not utterly destroy: take away the branches thereof, because they are not the Lord's.

For thus saith the Lord: All the land shall be desolate, but yet I will not utterly destroy.

And it came to pass when I prophesied, that Pheltias the son of Banaias died: and I fell down upon my face and cried with a loud voice and said: Alas, alas, alas, O Lord God: Wilt thou make an end of all the remnant of Israel?

And the slaughter being ended, I was left: and I fell upon my face, and crying I said: Alas, alas, alas, O Lord God, wilt thou then destroy all the remnant of Israel by pouring out thy fury upon Jerusalem?

And they shall eat up thy corn and thy bread: they shall devour thy sons and thy daughters: they shall eat up thy flocks and thy herds: they shall eat thy vineyards and thy figs: and with the sword they shall destroy thy strong cities, wherein thou trustest.

And if you shall say: Why hath the Lord our God done all these things to us? Thou shalt say to them: As you have forsaken me and served a strange god in your own land, so shall you serve strangers in a land that is not your own.

For I am with thee, saith the Lord, to save thee: for I will utterly consume all the nations among which I have scattered thee. But I will not utterly consume thee: but I will chastise thee in judgment, that thou mayst not seem to thyself innocent.

Yet my eye spared them, so that I destroyed them not: neither did I consume them in the desert.

Wast thou not from the beginning, O Lord my God, my holy one, and we shall not die? Lord, thou hast appointed him for judgment: and made him strong for correction.
