What then? I have seen them dismayed and turning their backs, their valiant ones slain. They fled apace and they looked not back: terror was round about, saith the Lord.

And Zebee and Salmana said: Do thou rise, and run upon us: because the strength of a man is according to his age: Gedeon rose up and slew Zebee and Salmana: and he took the ornaments and bosses with which the necks of the camels of kings are wont to be adorned.

But Madian and Amalec, and all the eastern people lay scattered in the valley, as a multitude of locusts. Their camels also were innumerable as the sand that lieth on the sea-shore.

For they and all their flocks came with their tents, and like locusts filled all places: an innumerable multitude of men, and of camels, wasting whatsoever they touched.

And sitting down to eat bread, they saw some Ismaelites on their way coming from Galaad, with their camels, carrying spices, and balm, and myrrh to Egypt.

Behold, I will bring a fear upon thee, saith the Lord God of hosts, from all that are round about thee. And you shall be scattered every one out of one another's sight: neither shall there be any to gather together them that flee.
