Is this man Jechonias an earthen and a broken vessel? Is he a vessel wherein there is no pleasure? Why are they cast out, he and his seed, and are cast into a land which they know not?
Howl, ye shepherds, and cry, and sprinkle yourselves with ashes, ye leaders of the flock: for the days of your slaughter and your dispersion are accomplished and you shall fall like precious vessels.
And it shall be broken small, as the potter's vessel is broken all to pieces with mighty breaking: and there shall not a shard be found of the pieces thereof, wherein a little fire may be carried from the hearth, or a, little water be drawn out of the pit.
And thou shalt say to them: Thus saith the Lord of hosts: Even so will I break this people and this city, as the potter's vessel is broken which cannot be made whole again: and they shall be buried in Topheth, because there is no other place to bury in.
