How is it overthrown and they have howled! How hath Moab bowed down the neck and is confounded! And Moab shall be a derision and an example to all round about him.

They are all confounded and ashamed: the forgers of errors are gone together into confusion.

Are not those things which thy god Chamos possesseth due to thee by right? But what the Lord our God hath obtained by conquest shall be our possession.

Woe to thee, Moab, thou hast perished, O people of Chamos: for thy sons, and thy daughters are taken captives.

For because thou hast trusted in thy bulwarks and in thy treasures, thou also shalt be taken: and Chamos shall go into captivity, his priests, and his princes together.

In that day a man shall cast away his idols of silver and his idols of gold, which he had made for himself to adore, moles and bats.

And Elias said to them: Take the prophets of Baal, and let not one of them escape. And when they had taken them, Elias brought them down to the torrent Cison, and killed them there.

Then Solomon built a temple for Chamos, the idol of Moab, on the hill that is over against Jerusalem: and for Moloch, the idol of the children of Ammon.

Because he hath forsaken me, and hath adored Astarthe the goddess of the Sidonians, and Chamos the god of Moab, and Moloch the god of the children of Ammon: and hath not walked in my ways, to do justice before me, and to keep my precepts, and judgments as did David his father.

Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the Lord, and I will send him men that shall order and overturn his bottles: and they shall cast him down: and shall empty his vessels, and break their bottles one against another.

Wherefore the Lord, being angry against Amasias, sent a prophet to him, to say to him: Why hast thou adored gods that have not delivered their own people out of thy hand?
