Declare ye in Juda, and make it heard in Jerusalem: speak, and sound with the trumpet in the land. Cry aloud, and say: Assemble yourselves, and let us go into strong cities.

Why do we sit still? Assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the fenced city, and let us be silent there. For the Lord our God hath put us to silence and hath given us water of gall to drink: for we have sinned against the Lord.

Strengthen yourselves, ye sons of Benjamin, in the midst of Jerusalem, and sound the trumpet in Thecua, and set up the standard over Bethacarem: for evil is seen out of the north, and a great destruction.

So the enemies being slain with a great slaughter, and almost utterly consumed, they that were able to escape from Israel, entered into fenced cities.

Let there be a trumpet in thy throat like an eagle upon the house of the Lord: because they have transgressed my covenant, and have violated my law.

The lion shall roar, who will not fear? The Lord God hath spoken, who shall not prophesy?

Shall the trumpet sound in a city, and the people not be afraid? Shall there be evil in a city, which the Lord hath not done?

But when Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon came up to our land, we said: Come, let us go into Jerusalem, from the face of the army of the Chaldeans and from the face of the army of Syria: and we have remained in Jerusalem.

Hear ye the words of this covenant, and speak to the men of Juda and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem,

Who is the wise man, that may understand this, and to whom the word of the mouth of the Lord may come that he may declare this, why the land hath perished and is burnt up like a wilderness which none passeth through?

Declare ye this to the house of Jacob and publish it in Juda, saying:

And when thou shalt sound the trumpets, all the multitude shall gather unto thee to the door of the tabernacle of the covenant.

Blow the trumpet, let all be made ready. Yet there is none to go to the battle: for my wrath shall be upon all the people thereof.

Blow ye the trumpet in Sion, sound an alarm in my holy mountain, let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: because the day of the Lord cometh, because it is nigh at hand,

Make thee two trumpets of beaten silver, wherewith thou mayest call together the multitude when the camp is to be removed.

Whensoever it shall pass through, it shall take you away, because in the morning early it shall pass through, in the day and in the night: and vexation alone shall make you understand what you hear.
