And king Sedecias sent Juchal the son of Selemias and Sophonias the son of Maasias the priest to Jeremias the prophet, saying: Pray to the Lord our God for us.

Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Because thou hast sent letters in thy name to all the people that are in Jerusalem and to Sophonias the son of Maasias the priest and to all the priests, saying:

Saying to a stock: Thou art my father. And to a stone: Thou hast begotten me. They have turned their back to me, and not their face: and in the time of their affliction they will say: Arise, and deliver us.

And the king said to the man of God: Entreat the face of the Lord thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored to me. And the man of God besought the face of the Lord: and the king's hand was restored to him; and it became as it was before.

Then Simon answering, said: Pray you for me to the Lord, that none of these things which you have spoken may come upon me.

Now Saphatias the son of Mathan and Gedelias the son of Phassur and Juchal the son of Selemias and Phassur the son of Melchias heard the words that Jeremias spoke to all the people, saying:

Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, to Achab the son of Colias and to Sedecias the son of Maasias, who prophesy unto you in my name falsely: Behold, I will deliver them up into the hands of Nabuchodonosor the king of Babylon. And he shall kill them before your eyes.

And all the people greatly feared the Lord and Samuel. And all the people said to Samuel: Pray for thy servants to the Lord thy God, that we may not die; for we have added to all our sins this evil, to ask for a king.

Upon which they came to Moses, and said: We have sinned, because we have spoken against the Lord and thee. Pray that he may take away these serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.

But now forgive me my sin this time also: and pray to the Lord your God, that he take away from me this death.

Pray ye to the Lord, that the thunderings of God and the hail may cease: that I may let you go, and that you may stay here no longer.

And Pharao said: I will let you go to sacrifice to the Lord your God in the wilderness. But go no farther: pray for me.

But Pharao called Moses and Aaron, and said to them: Pray ye to the Lord to take away the frogs from me and from my people; and I will let the people go to sacrifice to the Lord.

The Lord saith to me: Assuredly it shall be well with thy remnant, assuredly I shall help thee in the time of affliction and in the time of tribulation, against the enemy.

And the Chaldeans shall come again and fight against this city and take it and burn it with fire.

And Jeremias said to king Sedecias: In what way have I offended against thee or thy servants or thy people, that thou hast cast me into prison?

Then all the captains of the warriors and Johanan the son of Caree and Jezonias the son of Osaias and the rest of the people from the least to the greatest came near.
