Jeremiah 26:9

Why hath he prophesied in the name of the Lord, saying: This house shall be like Silo, and this city shall be made desolate without an inhabitant? And all the people were gathered together against Jeremias in the house of the Lord.

And they heard him until this word, and then lifted up their voice, saying: Away with such an one from the earth; for it is not fit that he should live.

And the whole city was in an uproar: and the people ran together. And taking Paul, they drew him out of the temple, and immediately the doors were shut.

But the Jews stirred up religious and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas: and cast them out of their coasts.

For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the traditions which Moses delivered unto us.

Saying: Commanding we commanded you, that you should not teach in this name; and behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and you have a mind to bring the blood of this man upon us.

They took up stones therefore to cast at him. But Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple.

These words Jesus spoke in the treasury, teaching in the temple: and no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come.

But the chief priests moved the people, that he should rather release Barabbas to them.

But the chief priests and ancients persuaded the people, that they should ask Barabbas, and make Jesus away.

And when he was come into the temple, there came to him, as he was teaching, the chief priests and ancients of the people, saying: By what authority dost thou these things? and who hath given thee this authority?

Speak ye not, saying: It shall not drop upon these, confusion shall not take them.

They have hated him that rebuketh in the gate: and have abhorred him that speaketh perfectly.

And I will make Jerusalem to be heaps of sand, and dens of dragons: and I will make the cities of Juda desolate, for want of an inhabitant.

That made men sin by word, and supplanted him that reproved them in the gate, and declined in vain from the just.

And when he spoke these things, he answered him: Art thou the king's counsellor? Be quiet, lest I kill thee. And the prophet departing said: I know that God is minded to kill thee, because thou hast done this evil, and moreover hast not hearkened to my counsel.

And as he held Peter and John, all the people ran to them to the porch which is called Solomon's, greatly wondering.

And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people. And they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch.

And all the children of Israel assembled together in Silo. And there they set up the tabernacle of the testimony: and the land was subdued before them.

For Sedecias king of Juda had shut him up, saying: Why dost thou prophesy, saying: Thus saith the Lord: Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall take it?

Thus saith the Lord: There shall be heard again in this place (which you say is desolate because there is neither man nor beast in the cities of Juda and without Jerusalem, which are desolate without man and without inhabitant and without beast).

And thou shalt say to Joakim the king of Juda: Thus saith the Lord: Thou hast burnt that volume, saying: Why hast thou written therein and said: The king of Babylon shall come speedily and shall lay waste this land and shall cause to cease from thence man and beast?
