From the thirteenth year of Josias the son of Ammon king of Juda until this day, this is the three and twentieth year, the word of the Lord hath come to me, and I have spoken to you, rising before day and speaking, and you have not hearkened.

To give ear to the words of my servants the prophets whom I sent to you, rising up early and sending, and you have not hearkened:

See that you refuse him not that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spoke upon the earth, much more shall not we, that turn away from him that speaketh to us from heaven.

And I will punish him and his seed and his servants, for their iniquities: and I will bring upon them and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem and upon the men of Juda all the evil that I have pronounced against them, but they have not heard.

And they have turned their backs to me, and not their faces, when I taught them early in the morning and instructed them: and they would not hearken to receive instruction.

Because they have not hearkened to my words, saith the Lord, which I sent to them by my servants the prophets, rising by night and sending: and you have not heard, saith the Lord.

I spoke to thee in thy properity: and thou saidst: I will not hear. This hath been thy way from thy youth, because thou hast not heard my voice.

Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will bring in upon this city, and upon all the cities thereof all the evils that I have spoken against it: because they have hardened their necks, and they might not hear my words.

And they said: We have no hopes, for we will go after our own thoughts and we will do every one according to the perverseness of his evil heart.

But they did not hear nor incline their ear: but hardened their neck, that they might not hear me and might not receive instruction.

And you also have done worse than your fathers: for, behold, every one of you walketh after the perverseness of his evil heart, so as not to hearken to me.

And you have not heard me, saith the Lord, that you might provoke me to anger with the works of your hands, to your own hurt.

And the Lord spoke to him, and to his people: and they would not hearken.

And I appointed watchmen over you, saying: Hearken ye to the sound of the trumpet. And they said: We will not hearken.

And he sent prophets to them to bring them back to the Lord, and they would not give ear when they testified against them.

Be not as your fathers, to whom the former prophets have cried, saying: Thus saith the Lord of hosts: Turn ye from your evil ways, and from your wicked thoughts: but they did not give ear, neither did they hearken to me, saith the Lord.
