And they did evil in the sight of the Lord: and they forgot their God, and served Baalim and Astaroth.

But Elymas the magician (for so his name is interpreted) withstood them, seeking to turn away the proconsul from the faith.

For thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Let not your prophets that are in the midst of you and your diviners deceive you, and give no heed to your dreams which you dream:

But the children of Israel, adding new sins to their old ones, did evil in the sight of the Lord, and served idols, Baalim and Astaroth, and the gods of Syria and of Sidon and of Moab and of the children of Ammon and of the Philistines. And they left the Lord, and did not serve him.

But they have gone after the perverseness of their own heart, and after Baalim, which their fathers taught them.

Take heed, and beware lest at any time thou forget the Lord thy God, and neglect his commandments and judgments and ceremonies, which I command thee this day.

Thy heart be lifted up, and thou remember not the Lord thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

But remember the Lord thy God, that he hath given thee strength, that he might fulfil his covenant, concerning which he swore to thy fathers, as this present day sheweth.

Will a virgin forget her ornament, or a bride her stomacher? But my people hath forgotten me days without number.
