Thus saith the Lord: Execute judgement and justice: and deliver him that is oppressed out of the hand of the oppressor: and afflict not the stranger, the fatherless and the widow, nor oppress them unjustly: and shed not innocent blood in this place.

O house of David, this saith the Lord: Judge ye judgement in the morning, and deliver him that is oppressed by violence out of the hand of the oppressor: lest my indignation go forth like a fire and be kindled, and there be none to quench it, because of the evil of your ways.

I will shew thee, O man, what is good, and what the Lord requireth of thee: Verily, to do judgment, and to love mercy, and to walk solicitous with thy God.

But thy eyes and thy heart are set upon covetousness and upon shedding innocent blood and upon oppression and running after evil works.

Religion clean and undefiled before God and the Father, is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their tribulation: and to keep one's self unspotted from this world.

They have abused father and mother in thee: they have oppressed the stranger in the midst of thee: they have grieved the fatherless and widow in thee.

And I will come to you in judgment, and will be a speedy witness against sorcerers, and adulterers, and false swearers, and them that oppress the hireling in his wages; the widows, and the fatherless: and oppress the stranger, and have not feared me, saith the Lord of hosts.

Egypt shall be a desolation, and Edom a wilderness destroyed: because they have done unjustly against the children of Juda, and have shed innocent blood in their land.

But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, for I am the Lord that exercise mercy and judgment and justice in the earth: for these things please me, saith the Lord.

They are grown gross and fat: and have most wickedly transgressed my words. They have not judged the cause of the widow, they have not managed the cause of the fatherless, they have not judged the judgement of the poor.

Thy princes are faithless, companions of thieves: they all love bribes, the run after rewards. They judge not for the fatherless: and the widow's cometh not in to them.

Touch not the bounds of little ones: and enter not into the field of the fatherless:

They are multiplied above the hairs of my head, who hate me without cause. My enemies are grown strong who have wrongfully persecuted me: then did I pay that which I took not away.

And for the innocent blood that he shed, filling Jerusalem with innocent blood. And therefore the Lord would not be appeased.

If any man be found soliciting his brother of the children of Israel, and selling him shall take a price, he shall be put to death: and thou shalt take away the evil from the midst of thee.

Then the princes and all the people said to the priests and to the prophets: There is no judgement of death for this man: for he hath spoken to us in the name of the Lord our God.

Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood,

Come let us adore and fall down: and weep before the Lord that made us.

They have violently robbed the fatherless, and stripped the poor common people.

Thou hast sent widows away empty: and the arms of the fatherless thou hast broken in pieces.

The God of Israel said to me, the strong one of Israel spoke, the ruler of men, the just ruler in the fear of God.

Cursed be he that perverteth the judgment of the stranger, of the fatherless and the widow. And all the people shall say: Amen.

If there be a controversy between men, and they call upon the judges: they shall give the prize of justice to him whom they perceive to be just. And him whom they find to be wicked they shall condemn of wickedness.

He doth judgment to the fatherless and the widow, loveth the stranger, and giveth him food and raiment.

Thou shalt not do that which is unjust, nor judge unjustly. Respect not the person of the poor: nor honour the countenance of the mighty. But judge thy neighbour according to justice.

Her princes have judged for bribes, and her priests have taught for hire, and her prophets divined for money: and they leaned upon the Lord, saying: Is not the Lord in the midst of us? no evil shall come upon us.

You shall not hurt a widow or an orphan.

Woe to you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites; because you tithe mint, and anise, and cummin, and have left the weightier things of the law; judgment, and mercy, and faith. These things you ought to have done, and not to leave those undone.

Thou shalt not molest a stranger, nor afflict him: for yourselves also were strangers in the land of Egypt.

Is not this rather the fast that I have chosen? Loose the bands of wickedness, undo the bundles that oppress. Let them that are broken go free: and break asunder every burden.

Deal thy bread to the hungry and bring the needy and the harbourless into thy house: when thou shalt see one naked, cover him and despise not thy own flesh.

But this thing I commanded them, saying: Hearken to my voice, and I will be your God and you shall be my people. And walk ye in all the way that I have commanded you, that it may be well with you.

Because they have forsaken me and have profaned this place and have sacrificed therein to strange gods, whom neither they nor their fathers knew, nor the kings of Juda. And they have filled this place with the blood of innocents.

Lamed. To destroy a man wrongfully in his judgment, the Lord hath not approved.

That grieveth the needy and the poor: that taketh away by violence: that restoreth not the pledge: and that lifteth up his eyes to idols: that committeth abomination:

Thus saith the Lord God: Let it suffice you, O princes of Israel: cease from iniquity and robberies, and execute judgment and justice, separate your confines from my people, saith the Lord God.

But judgment shall be revealed as water, and justice as a mighty torrent.

Thou shalt not pervert the judgment of the stranger nor of the fatherless: neither shalt thou take away the widow's raiment for a pledge.

They have taken a malicious counsel against thy people, and have consulted against thy saints.

And hath not wronged any man but hath restored the pledge to the debtor: hath taken nothing away by violence: hath given his bread to the hungry and hath covered the naked with a garment:

Hate evil, and love good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be the Lord the God of hosts may have mercy on the remnant of Joseph.
