And after this, saith the Lord, I will give Sedecias the king of Juda, and his servants, and his people, and such as are left in this city from the pestilence and the sword and the famine, into the hand of Nabuchodonosor the king of Babylon, and into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them that seek their life: and he shall strike them with the edge of the sword, and he shall not be moved to pity nor spare them nor shew mercy on them.

And Jeremias said to king Sedecias: In what way have I offended against thee or thy servants or thy people, that thou hast cast me into prison?

And my eye shall not spare, neither will I shew mercy: but I will lay thy ways upon thee, and thy abominations shall be in the midst of thee. And you shall know that I am the Lord that strike.

And I will scatter them every man from his brother, and fathers and sons in like manner, saith the Lord. I will not spare and I will not pardon: nor will I have mercy not to destroy them.

A most insolent nation, that will shew no regard to the ancients, nor have pity on the infant:

Therefore neither shall my eye spare nor will I have pity: I will requite their way upon their head.

Therefore I also will deal with them in my wrath: my eye shall not spare them, neither will I shew mercy: and when they shall cry to my ears with a loud voice, I will not hear them.

I was angry with my people, I have polluted my inheritance and have given them into thy hand. Thou hast shewn no mercy to them: upon the ancient thou hast laid thy yoke exceeding heavy.

Its harvest shall be destroyed with drought, women shall come and teach it: for it is not a wise people. Therefore he that made it shall not have mercy on it: and he that formed it shall not spare it.

For who shall have pity on thee, O Jerusalem? Or who shall bemoan thee? Or who shall go to pray for thy peace?

She that hath borne seven is become weak, her soul hath fainted away, her sun is gone down while it was yet day: she is confounded and ashamed. And the residue of them I will give up to the sword in the sight of their enemies, saith the Lord.

And I will give thee into the hand of them that seek thy life, and into the hand of them whose face thou fearest, and into the hand of Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon, and into the hand of the Chaldeans.

And now I have given all these lands into the hand of Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon, my servant: moreover also the beasts of the field I have given him to serve him.

And thou shalt not escape out of his hand, but thou shalt surely be taken: and thou shalt be delivered into his hand. And thy eyes shall see the eyes of the king of Babylon, and his mouth shall speak with thy mouth, and thou shalt go to Babylon.

For thus saith the Lord God: Behold, I will deliver thee into the hands of them whom thou hatest, into their hands with whom thy soul hath been glutted.

When they fast, I will not hear their prayers: and if they offer holocausts and victims, I will not receive them: for I will consume them by the sword and by famine and by the pestilence.

And I will defeat the counsel of Juda and of Jerusalem in this place: and I will destroy them with the sword in the sight of their enemies and by the hands of them that seek their lives: and I will give their carcasses to be meat for the fowls of the air and for the beasts of the earth.

For thus saith the Lord: Behold, I will deliver thee up to fear, thee and all thy friends. And they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and thy eyes shall see it. And I will give all Juda into the hand of the king of Babylonand he shall carry them away to Babylon and he shall strike them with the sword.

And Sedecias king of Juda shall not escape out of the hand of the Chaldeans: but he shall be delivered into the hands of the king of Babylon. And he shall speak to him mouth to mouth, and his eyes shall see his eyes.

And thou shalt say to Joakim the king of Juda: Thus saith the Lord: Thou hast burnt that volume, saying: Why hast thou written therein and said: The king of Babylon shall come speedily and shall lay waste this land and shall cause to cease from thence man and beast?

Israel is a scattered flock, the lions have driven him away: first the king of Assyria devoured him, and last this Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon hath broken his bones.

Res. Behold O Lord, and consider whom thou hast thus dealt with. Shall women then eat their own fruit, their children of a span long? Shall the priest and the prophet be slain in the sanctuary of the Lord?

Thau. Thou hast called as to a festival those that should terrify me round about, and there was none in the day of the wrath of the Lord that escaped and was left: those that I brought up and nourished, my enemy hath consumed them.
