And thou shalt say to them: Thus saith the Lord of hosts: Even so will I break this people and this city, as the potter's vessel is broken which cannot be made whole again: and they shall be buried in Topheth, because there is no other place to bury in.

Thou shalt rule them with a rod of iron, and shalt break them in pieces like a potter's vessel.

And it shall be broken small, as the potter's vessel is broken all to pieces with mighty breaking: and there shall not a shard be found of the pieces thereof, wherein a little fire may be carried from the hearth, or a, little water be drawn out of the pit.

Beth. The noble sons of Sion and they that were clothed with the best gold: how are they esteemed as earthen vessels, the work of the potter's hands?

To such a one his destruction shall presently come, and he shall suddenly be destroyed, and shall no longer have any remedy.

Thus will I do to this place, saith the Lord, and to the inhabitants thereof: and I will make this city as Topheth.

Upon all the housetops of Moab and in the streets thereof general mourning: because I have broken Moab as an useless vessel, saith the Lord.

And when thou shalt have made an end of reading this book, thou shalt tie a stone to it and shalt throw it into the midst of the Euphrates.

Howl, ye shepherds, and cry, and sprinkle yourselves with ashes, ye leaders of the flock: for the days of your slaughter and your dispersion are accomplished and you shall fall like precious vessels.
