And the Lord said to me: The prophets prophesy falsely in my name. I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, nor have I spoken to them: they prophesy unto you a lying vision and divination and deceit and the seduction of their own heart.

For there shall be no more any vain visions, nor doubtful divination in the midst of the children of Israel.

Send to all them of the captivity, saying: Thus saith the Lord to Semeias the Nehelamite: Behold, Semeias hath prophesied to you and I sent him not, and hath caused you to trust in a lie:

Nun. Thy prophets have seen false and foolish things for thee: and they have not laid open thy iniquity, to excite thee to penance: but they have seen for thee false revelations and banishments.

Her princes have judged for bribes, and her priests have taught for hire, and her prophets divined for money: and they leaned upon the Lord, saying: Is not the Lord in the midst of us? no evil shall come upon us.

The prophets prophesied falsehood, and the priests clapped their hands: and my people loved such things. What then shall be done in the end thereof?

Speaking lies in hypocrisy, and having their conscience seared,

And it shall come to pass, that when any man shall prophesy any more, his father and his mother that brought him into the world, shall say to him: Thou shalt not live: because thou best spoken a lie in the name of the Lord. And his father, and his mother, his parents, shall thrust him through, when he shall prophesy.

For the idols have spoken what was unprofitable, and the diviners have seen a lie, and the dreamers have spoken vanity: they comforted in vain: therefore they were led away as a dock: they shall be afflicted, because they have no shepherd.

Therefore you shall not see vain things, nor divine divinations any more: and I will deliver my people out of your hand. And you shall know that I am the Lord.

Now therefore hear, I beseech thee, my lord the king. Let my petition be accepted in thy sight: and send me not back into the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.

Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, to Achab the son of Colias and to Sedecias the son of Maasias, who prophesy unto you in my name falsely: Behold, I will deliver them up into the hands of Nabuchodonosor the king of Babylon. And he shall kill them before your eyes.

And Jeremias the prophet said to Hananias the prophet: Hear now, Hananias: the Lord hath not sent thee, and thou hast made this people to trust in a lie.

Go, and tell Hananias: Thus saith the Lord: Thou hast broken chains of wood, and thou shalt make for them chains of iron.

The aged and honourable, he is the head: and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail.

Dearly beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits if they be of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

But the prophet, who being corrupted with pride shall speak in my name things that I did not command him to say, or in the name of strange gods, shall be slain.

His watchmen are all blind. They are all ignorant: dumb dogs not able to bark, seeing vain things, sleeping, and loving dreams.

And they healed the breach of the daughter of my people disgracefully, saying, Peace, Peace: when there was no peace.

But thou, Phassur, and all that dwell in thy house, shall go into captivity. And thou shalt go to Babylon, and there thou shalt die, and there thou shalt be buried, thou and all thy friends, to whom thou hast prophesied a lie.

And Hananias spoke in the presence of all the people, saying: Thus saith the Lord: Even so will I break the yoke of Nabuchodonosor the king of Babylon after two full years from off the neck of all the nations.

Teth. Her gates are sunk into the ground: he hath destroyed and broken her bars: her king and her princes are among the Gentiles: the law is no more, and her prophets have found no vision from the Lord.

Therefore I will give their women to strangers, their fields to others for an inheritance: because from the least even to the greatest all follow covetousness: from the prophet even to the priest all deal deceitfully.

Son of man, prophesy thou against the prophets of Israel that prophesy. And thou shalt say to them that prophesy out of their own heart: Hear ye the word of the Lord.
