Thus saith the Lord: Behold, a people cometh from the land of the north, and a great nation shall rise up from the ends of the earth.

For behold, I will raise up the Chaldeans, a bitter and swift nation, marching upon the breadth of the earth, to possess the dwelling places that are not their own.

Therefore, thus saith the Lord the God of Israel to the pastors that feed my people: You have scattered my flock and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you for the evil of your doings, saith the Lord.

And the Lord said to me: From the north shall an evil break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land.

But if you will not hear this, my soul shall weep in secret for your pride: weeping it shall weep, and my eyes shall run down the tears, because the flock of the Lord is carried away captive.

Behold, the sound of a noise cometh, a great commotion out of the land of the north: to make the cities of Juda a desert and a dwelling for dragons.

For, behold, I will call together all the families of the kingdoms of the north, saith the Lord: and they shall come, and shall set every one his throne in the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem and upon all the walls thereof round about and upon all the cities of Juda.

And the fields of peace have been silent: because of the fierce anger of the Lord.

In the multitude of people is the dignity of the king: and in the small number of people the dishonour of the prince.
