I will make my arrows drunk with blood, and my sword shall devour flesh, of the blood of the slain and of the captivity, of the bare head of the enemies.

A voice was heard in the highways, weeping and howling of the children of Israel: because they have made their way wicked, they have forgotten the Lord their God.

For thus saith the Lord: All the land shall be desolate, but yet I will not utterly destroy.

And all this land shall be a desolation and an astonishment: and all these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

For thus saith the Lord: We have heard a voice of terror: there is fear and no peace.

For this is the day of the Lord the God of hosts, a day of vengeance, that he may revenge himself of his enemies. The sword shall devour and shall be filled and shall be drunk with their blood: for there is a sacrifice of the Lord God of hosts in the north country, by the river Euphrates.

Vau. And my soul is removed far off from peace: I have forgotten good things.

And forasmuch as I have cut off in thee the just and the wicked, therefore shall my sword go forth out of its sheath against all flesh, from the south even to the north.

And thou son of man, prophesy and say: Thus saith the Lord God concerning the children of Ammon and concerning their reproach. And thou shalt say: O sword, O sword, come out of the scabbard to kill, be furbished to destroy and to glitter,

We looked for peace, and no good came: for a time of healing, and, behold, fear.

And the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

Son of man, prophesy and say: Thus saith the Lord God: Say: The sword, the sword, is sharpened and furbished.
