Come, let us take wine, and be filled with drunkenness: and it shall be as to-day, so also to-morrow, and much more.

The Lord trieth the just and the wicked: but he that loveth iniquity hateth his own soul.

Woe to you that are mighty to drink wine, and stout men at drunkenness:

Boast not for to morrow, for thou knowest not what the day to come may bring forth.

If (according to man) I fought with beasts at Ephesus, what doth it profit me, if the dead rise not again? Let us eat and drink, for to morrow we shall die.

Wine is a luxurious thing, and drunkenness riotous: whosoever is delighted therewith shell not be wise.

Is it not better to eat and drink, and to shew his soul good things of his labours? and this is from the hand of God.

The harp and the lyre and the timbrel and the pipe and wine are in your feasts: and the work of the Lord you regard not, nor do you consider the works of his hands.

For as thorns embrace one another: so while they are feasting and drinking together, they shall be consumed as stubble that is fully dry.

God hath given him place for penance: and he abuseth it unto pride. But his eyes are upon his ways.

Hear this word, ye fat kine that are in the mountains of Samaria: you that oppress the needy, and crush the poor: that say to your masters: Bring, and we will drink.
