Behold, all the partakers thereof shall be confounded: for the makers are men. They shall all assemble together: they shall stand and fear, and shall be confounded together.
But the residue thereof he made a god and a graven thing for himself: he boweth down before it and adoreth it and prayeth unto it, saying: Deliver me, for thou art my God.
They have quickly strayed from the way which thou didst shew them: and they have made to themselves a molten calf, and have adored it, and sacrificing victims to it, have said: These are thy gods, O Israel, that have brought thee out of the land of Egypt.
And when he had received them, he fashioned them by founders' work, and made of them a molten calf. And they said: These are thy gods, O Israel, that have brought thee out of the land of Egypt.
The makers of idols are all of them nothing: and their best beloved things shall not profit them. They are their witnesses, that they do not see nor understand, that they may be ashamed.
What then? I have seen them dismayed and turning their backs, their valiant ones slain. They fled apace and they looked not back: terror was round about, saith the Lord.
