THE vision of Isaias the son of Amos I which he saw concerning Juda and Jerusalem in the days of Ozias, Joathan, Achaz, and Ezechias, kings of Juda

Gird yourselves, and lament, O ye priests, howl, ye ministers of the altars: go in, lie in sackcloth, ye ministers of my God: because sacrifice and libation is cut off from the house of your God.

And Ezechias took the letter from the hand of the messengers and read it, and went up to the house of the Lord: and Ezechias spread it before the Lord.

And there went out to him Eliacim the son of Helcias, who was over the house, and Sobna the scribe, and Joahe the son of Asaph, the recorder.

And they rose early in the morning, and went out through the desert of Thecua. And as they were marching Josaphat standing in the midst of them said: Hear me, ye men of Juda, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem. Believe in the Lord your God, and you shall be secure. Believe his prophets, and all things shall succeed well.

And he sent Eliacim, who was over the house, and Sobna the scribe, and the ancients of the priests covered with sackcloths, to Isaias, the prophet, the son of Amos.

And they called for the king: and there went out to them Eliacim the son of Helcias, who was over the house, and Sobna the scribe, and Joahe the son of Asaph, the recorder.

At that same time, the Lord spoke by the hand of Isaias the son of Amos, saying: Go, and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, and take off thy shoes from thy feet. And he did so, and went naked and barefoot.

Thus saith the Lord God of hosts: Go, get thee in to him that dwelleth in the tabernacle, to Sobna who is over the temple: and thou shalt say to him:

And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will call my servant Eliacim, the son of Helcias.

And Isaias the son of Amos sent to Ezechias, saying: Thus saith the Lord the God of Israel: For the prayer thou hast made to me concerning Sennacherib the king of the Assyrians:

IN those days, Ezechias was sick even to death, and Isaias the son of Amos the prophet came unto him, and said to him: Thus saith the Lord: Take order with thy house, for thou shalt die, and not live.

And the Lord, the God of hosts, in that day shall call to weeping and to mourning: to baldness and to girding with sackcloth.
