And he spoke against the God of Jerusalem, as against the gods of the people of the earth, the works of the hands of men.

Our signs we have not seen, there is now no prophet: and he will know us no more.

Then shalt thou accept the sacrifice of justice, oblations and whole burnt offerings: then shall they lay calves upon thy altar.

Therefore let not Ezechias deceive you, nor delude you with a vain persuasion, and do not believe him. (And a man of God coming said to the king of Israel: Thus saith the Lord: Because the Syrians have said: The Lord is God of the hills, but is not God of the valleys: I will deliver all this great multitude into thy hand and you shall know that I am the Lord.)

And let not Ezechias make you trust in the Lord, saying: The Lord will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be given into the hands of the king of the Assyrians.

And you rose up against me with your mouth, and have derogated from me by your words: I have heard them.

It may be the Lord thy God will hear the words of Rabsaces, whom the king of the Assyrians his master hath sent to blaspheme the living God and to reproach with words which the Lord thy God hath heard: wherefore lift up thy prayer for the remnant that is left.
