They shall say: This land that was untilled is become as a garden of pleasure: and the cities that were abandoned, and desolate, and destroyed, are peopled and fenced.
The Lord therefore will comfort Sion: and will comfort all the ruins thereof. And he will make her desert as a place of pleasure and her wilderness as the garden of the Lord. Joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving and the voice of praise.
In that day the bud of the Lord shall be in magnificence and glory: and the fruit of the earth shall be high, and a great joy to them that shall have escaped of Israel.
He shall not see destruction, when he shall see the wise dying: the senseless and the fool shall perish together: And they shall leave their riches to strangers:
For the strong city shall be desolate: the beautiful city shall be forsaken and shall be left as a wilderness. There the calf shall feed: and there shall he lie down and shall consume its branches.
And I said: How long, O Lord? And he said: Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land shall be left desolate.
And they shall say in that day: Lo, this is our God: we have waited for him, and he will save us. This is the Lord: we have patiently waited for him, we shall rejoice and be joyful in his salvation.
Then shall the lame man leap as a hart, and the tongue of the dumb shall be free. For waters are broken out in the desert, and streams in the wilderness.
Let the desert and the cities thereof be exalted: Cedar shall dwell in houses. Ye inhabitants of Petra, give praise: they shall cry from the top of the mountains.
