Who say to the seers: See not. And to them that behold: Behold not for us those things that are right. Speak unto us pleasant things: see errors for us.
Therefore thus saith the Lord to the men of Anathoth, who seek thy life and say: Thou shalt not prophesy in the name of the Lord and thou shalt not die in our hands.
And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast, that ascendeth out of the abyss, shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.
They say to them that blaspheme me: The Lord hath said, You shall have peace. And to every one that walketh in the perverseness of his own heart they have said: No evil shall come to you.
Would God I were not a man that hath the spirit, and that I rather spoke a lie: I will let drop to thee of wine, and of drunkenness: and it shall be this people upon whom it shall drop.
Saying: Commanding we commanded you, that you should not teach in this name; and behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and you have a mind to bring the blood of this man upon us.
And the princes said to the king: We beseech thee that this man may be put to death: for on purpose he weakeneth the hands of the men of war that remain in this city and the hands of the people, speaking to them according to these words. For this man seeketh not peace to this people, but evil.
And the priests and the prophets spoke to the princes and to all the people, saying: The judgement of death is for this man, because he hath prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your ears.
And when he spoke these things, he answered him: Art thou the king's counsellor? Be quiet, lest I kill thee. And the prophet departing said: I know that God is minded to kill thee, because thou hast done this evil, and moreover hast not hearkened to my counsel.
And Asa was angry with the seer, and commanded him to be put in prison: for he was greatly enraged because of this thing. And he put to death many of the people at that time.
For there shall be a time, when they will not endure sound doctrine; but, according to their own desires, they will heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears:
Now in time past, in Israel when a man went to consult God he spoke thus: Come, let us go to the seer. For he that is now called a prophet, in time past was called a seer.
And thou shalt say to Joakim the king of Juda: Thus saith the Lord: Thou hast burnt that volume, saying: Why hast thou written therein and said: The king of Babylon shall come speedily and shall lay waste this land and shall cause to cease from thence man and beast?
For you have said: We have entered into a league with death, and we have made a covenant with hell. When the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come upon us: for we have placed our hope in lies, and by falsehood we are protected.
