Isaiah 25:4

Because thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the whirlwind, a shadow from the heat. For the blast of the mighty is like a whirlwind beating against a wall.

And I will leave in the midst of thee a poor and needy people: and they shall hope in the name of the Lord.

And a man shall be as when one is hid from the wind, and hideth himself from a storm: as rivers of waters in drought, and the shadow of a rock that standeth out in a desert land.

Hearken, my dearest brethren: hath not God chosen the poor in this world, rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which God hath promised to them that love him?

O Lord, have mercy on us, for we have waited for thee: be thou our arm in the morning, and our salvation in the time of trouble.

And the meek shall increase their joy in the Lord: and the poor men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

And the multitude of them that fan thee shall be like small dust: and, as ashes passing away, the multitude of them that have prevailed against thee.

Or rather shall it take hold of my strength? Shall it make peace with me? Shall it make peace with me?

Because thou hast forgotten God thy saviour, and hast not remembered thy strong helper: therefore shalt thou plant good plants and shalt sow strange seed.

And what shall be answered to the messengers of the nations? That the Lord hath founded Sion, and the poor of his people shall hope in him.

But he shall judge the poor with justice, and shall reprove with equity for the meek of the earth. And he shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth: and with the breath of his lips he shall slay the wicked.

And I said: Then have I in vain justified my heart, and washed my hands among the innocent.

For there is no regard to their death, nor is there strength in their stripes.

For with thee is the fountain of life; and in thy light we shall see light.

Because their seats have sat in judgment, seats upon the house of David.

And he shall be a sanctification to you: but for a stone or stumbling and for a rock of offence to the two houses of Israel, for a snare and a ruin to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

Take counsel, gather a council: make thy shadow as the night in the midday; hide them that flee; and betray not them that wander about.

And a spirit of judgment to him that sitteth in judgment, and strength to them that return out of the battle to the gate.

For he that did prevail hath failed; the scorner is consumed; and they are all cut off that watched for iniquity:

When thou shalt cry, let thy companies deliver thee: but the wind shall carry them all off, a breeze shall take them away. But he that putteth his trust in me shall inherit the land and shall possess my holy mount.

O Lord, my might and my strength and my refuge in the day of tribulation: to thee the Gentiles shall come from the ends of the earth and shall say: Surely our fathers have possessed lies, a vanity which hath not profited them.

And thou shalt go up and come like a storm, and like a cloud to cover the land, thou and all thy bands and many people with thee.

And the Lord is become a refuge for the poor: a helper in due time in tribulation.
