The Lord hath mingled in the midst thereof the spirit of giddiness: and they have caused Egypt to err in all its works, as a drunken man staggereth and vomiteth.

That all may be judged who have not believed the truth, but have consented to iniquity.

And thou shalt say to them: Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Drink ye, and be drunken and vomit: and fall and rise no more, because of the sword which I shall send among you.

They shall grope as in the dark, and not in the light: and he shall make them stagger like men that are drunk.

Now therefore behold the Lord hath put a spirit of lying in the mouth of all thy prophets: and the Lord hath spoken evil against thee.

A man shall be known by his learning: but he that is vain and foolish, shall be exposed to contempt.

As for my people, their oppressors have stripped them, and women have ruled over them. O my people, they that call thee blessed, the same deceive thee and destroy the way of thy steps.

And they that call this people blessed shall cause them to err: and they that are called blessed shall be thrown down headlong.

With shaking shall the earth be shaken as a drunken man, and shall be removed as the tent of one night. And the iniquity thereof shall be heavy upon it: and it shall fall and not rise again.
