Therefore, thus saith the Lord, the God of hosts: O my people that dwellest in Sion, be not afraid of the Assyrian: he shall strike thee with his rod, and he shall lift up his staff over thee in the way of Egypt.

To appoint to the mourners of Sion: and to give them a crown for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, a garment of praise for the spirit of grief. And they shall be called in it the mighty ones of justice, the planting of the Lord to glorify him.

And Isaias said to them: Thus shall you say to your master: Thus saith the Lord: Be not afraid of the words that thou hast heard, with which the servants of the king of the Assyrians have blasphemed me.

This is the word which the Lord hath spoken of him: The virgin, the daughter of Sion, hath despised thee and laughed thee to scorn: the daughter of Jerusalem hath wagged the head after thee.

Say to the fainthearted: Take courage, and fear not. Behold, your God will bring the revenge of recompense. God himself will come and will save you.

For the people of Sion shall dwell in Jerusalem. Weeping thou shalt not weep: he will surely have pity on thee. At the voice of thy cry, as soon as he shall hear, he will answer thee.

Hath he struck him according to the stroke of him that struck him? Or is he slain, as he killed them that were slain by him?

Rejoice not thou, whole Philistia, that the rod of him that struck thee is broken in pieces: for out of the root of the serpent shall come forth a basilisk, and his seed shall swallow the bird.

Rejoice, and praise, O thou habitation of Sion: for great is he that is in the midst of thee, the Holy One of Israel.

Woe to the Assyrian: he is the rod and the staff of my anger, and my indignation is in their hands.

For the yoke of their burden, and the rod of their shoulder, and the sceptre of their oppressor, thou best overcome, as in the day of Madian.

And it shall come to pass, that every one that shall be left in Sion, and that shall remain in Jerusalem, shall be called holy: every one that is written in life in Jerusalem:

And when the Egyptians followed the steps of them who were gone before, they found them encamped at the sea-side. All Pharao's horse and chariots, and the whole army were in Phihahiroth before Beelsephon.

And they that were over the works of the children of Israel were scourged by Pharao's taskmasters, saying: Why have you not made up the task of bricks both yesterday and today as before?

And thou shalt say to him: See thou be quiet: fear not, and let not thy heart be afraid of the two tails of these firebrands, smoking with the wrath of the fury of Rasin king of Syria, and of the son of Romelia.

Behold, God is my saviour: I will deal confidently, and will not fear, because the Lord is my strength and my praise, and he is become my salvation.

And the passage of the rod shall be strongly grounded, which the Lord shall make to rest upon him with timbrels and harps and in great battles he shall over-throw them.

And thou hast forgotten the Lord thy maker, who stretched out the heavens and founded the earth: and thee hast been afraid continually all the day at the presence of his fury who afflicted thee, and had prepared himself to destroy thee. Where is now the fury of the oppressor?

And this man shall be our peace, when the Assyrian shall come into our land, and when he shall set his foot in our houses: and we shall raise against him seven shepherds, and eight principal men.

And Isaias said to them: Thus shall you say to your master: Thus saith the Lord: Be not afraid for the words which thou hast heard, with which the servants of the king of the Assyrians have blasphemed me.
