Woe to you lawyers, for you have taken away the key of knowledge: you yourselves have not entered in, and those that were entering in, you have hindered.

Woe to you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites; because you tithe mint, and anise, and cummin, and have left the weightier things of the law; judgment, and mercy, and faith. These things you ought to have done, and not to leave those undone.

When the chief priests, therefore, and the servants, had seen him, they cried out, saying: Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith to them: Take him you, and crucify him: for I find no cause in him.

These things his parents said, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had already agreed among themselves, that if any man should confess him to be Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.

Shall not all these take up a parable against him, and a dark speech concerning him: and it shall be said: Woe to him that heapeth together that which is not his own? how long also doth he load himself with thick clay?

Woe to you that join house to house and lay field to field, even to the end of the place: shall you alone dwell in the midst of the earth?

Woe unto them, for they have gone in the way of Cain: and after the error of Balaam they have for reward poured out themselves, and have perished in the contradiction of Core.

The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man shall be betrayed: it were better for him, if that man had not been born.

Woe to you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites; because you are like to whited sepulchres, which outwardly appear to men beautiful, but within are full of dead men's bones, and of all filthiness.

Woe to him that buildeth a town with blood, and prepareth a city by iniquity.

Woe to him that gathereth together an evil covetousness to his house, that his nest may be on high, and thinketh he may be delivered out of the hand of evil.

Woe to him that giveth drink to his friend, and presenteth his gall, and maketh him drunk, that he may behold his nakedness.

Woe to him that buildeth up his house by injustice, and his chambers not in judgement: that will oppress his friend without cause and will not pay him his wages.

Woe to you that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as the rope of a cart.

Woe to the wicked unto evil: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.

Deliver me from my enemies, O my God; and defend me from them that rise up against me.

Woe to you that rise up early in the morning to follow drunkenness and to drink till the evening, to be inflamed with wine.

And bringing two men, sons of the devil, they made them sit against him. And they, like men of the devil, bore witness against him before the people, saying: Naboth hath blasphemed God and the king. Wherefore they brought him forth without the city, and stoned him to death.

The Lord will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people and its princes. For you have devoured the vineyard: and the spoil of the poor is in your house.

That justify the wicked for gifts, and take away the justice of the just from him.

That made men sin by word, and supplanted him that reproved them in the gate, and declined in vain from the just.

There is none that calleth upon justice, neither is there any one that judgeth truly: but they trust in a mere nothing and speak vanities. They have conceived labour and brought forth iniquity.

In sinning and lying against the Lord. And we have turned away so that we went not after our God but spoke calumny and transgression: we have conceived and uttered from the heart words of falsehood.

Neither shalt thou favour a poor man in judgment.

Thou shalt not go aside in the poor man's judgment.

They bruise the heads of the poor upon the dust of the earth, and turn aside the way of the humble: and the son and his father have gone to the same young woman, to profane my holy name.
