Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Sion, shout for joy, O daughter of Jerusalem: BEHOLD THY KING will come to thee, the just and saviour: he is poor, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.
Behold, the Lord hath made it to be heard in the ends of the earth. Tell the daughter of Sion: Behold, thy Saviour cometh. Behold, his reward is with him and his work before him.

Your land is desolate, your cities are burnt with fire: your country strangers devour before your face, and it shall be desolate as when wasted by enemies.
And thou shalt say in thy heart: Who hath begotten these? I was barren and brought not forth, led away and captive: and who hath brought up these? I was destitute and alone: and these, where were they?
A thousand men shall flee for fear of one: and for fear of five shall you flee, till you be left, as the mast of a ship on the top of a mountain and as an ensign upon a hill.
