According to their pastures they were filled, and were made full: and they lifted up their heart, and have forgotten me.

Whose end is destruction; whose God is their belly; and whose glory is in their shame; who mind earthly things.

Hear ye this, O priests, and hearken, O ye house of Israel, and give ear, O house of the king: for there is a judgment against you, because you have been a snare to them whom you should have watched over, and a net spread upon Thabor.

From the days of our fathers. And we ourselves also have sinned grievously unto this day: and for our iniquities we, and our kings, and our priests have been delivered into the hands of the kings of the lands, and to the sword, and to captivity, and to spoil, and to confusion of face, as it is at this day.

I will deliver them out of the hand of death. I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy death; O hell, I will be thy bite: comfort is hidden from my eyes.

As for Ephraim, their glory hath flown away like a bird from the birth, and from the womb, and from the conception.

For itself also is carried into Assyria, a present to the avenging king: shame shall fall upon Ephraim, and Israel shall be confounded in his own will.

The beloved grew fat, and kicked: he grew fat, and thick and gross. He forsook God who made him: and departed from God his saviour.
