Chastise thy son, despair not: but to the killing of him set not thy soul.

That thou mayst consider in thy heart, that as a man traineth up his son, so the Lord thy God hath trained thee up.

The rod and reproof give wisdom: but the child that is left to his own will bringeth his mother to shame.

He that spareth the rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him correcteth him betimes.

Instruct thy son, and he shall refresh thee, and shall give delight to thy soul.

I will be to him a father: and he shall be to me a son. And if he commit any iniquity, I will correct him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men.

Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, and the rod of correction shall drive it away.

And when they had ordained to them priests in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, in whom they believed.

But whilst we are judged, we are chastised by the Lord, that we be not condemned with this world.
