And David said to Nathan: I have sinned against the Lord. And Nathan said to David: The Lord also hath taken away thy sin. Thou shalt not die.

And the third day he brought them out of prison, and said: Do as I have said, and you shall live; for I fear God.

And God said to him: And I know that thou didst it with a sincere heart: and therefore I withheld thee from sinning against me, and I suffered thee not to touch her.

Whosoever is born of God, committeth not sin: for his seed abideth in him, and he can not sin, because he is born of God.

But he that knew not, and did things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. And unto whomsoever much is given, of him much shall be required: and to whom they have committed much, of him they will demand the more.

All the day long thy tongue hath devised injustice: as a sharp razor, thou hast wrought deceit.

Here now it is required among the dispensers, that a man be found faithful.

All that found them have devoured them: and their enemies said: We have not sinned in so doing: because they have sinned against the Lord, the beauty of justice, and against the Lord the hope of their fathers.

Therefore, thus saith the Lord: Behold, I will send thee away from off the face of the earth: this year shalt thou die. For thou hast spoken against the Lord.

For I have always feared God as waves swelling over me; and his weight I was not able to bear.

And the mourning being over, David sent and brought her into his house. And she became his wife; and she bore him a son. And this thing which David had done was displeasing to the Lord.

But if you do not what you say, no man can doubt but you sin against God. And know ye, that your sin shall overtake you.

Whosoever shall sin, and despising the Lord, shall deny to his neighbour the thing delivered to his keeping, which was committed to his trust; or shall by force extort any thing, or commit oppression;

But he that is an adulterer, for the folly of his heart shall destroy his own soul:

But the former governors that had been before me were chargeable to the people; and took of them in bread, and wine, and in money every day forty sicles: and their officers also oppressed the people. But I did not so for the fear of God.

Without are dogs, and sorcerers, and unchaste, and murderers, and servers of idols, and every one that loveth and maketh a lie.

Marriage honourable in all, and the bed undefiled. For fornicators and adulterers God will judge.

Not defrauding, but in all things shewing good fidelity, that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things:

So he that goeth in to his neighbour's wife, shall not be clean when he shall touch her.

And I said: Should such a man as I flee? And who is there that being as I am would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in.

If any man commit adultery with the wife of another, and defile his neighbour's wife: let them: be put to death, both the adulterer and the adulteress.

Thou shalt be over my house, and at the commandment of thy mouth all the people shall obey: only in the kingly throne will I be above thee.

But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, they shall have their portion in the pool burning with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.

And he said to the elder servant of his house, who was ruler over all he had: Put thy hand under my thigh,

And God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and he said to him: Lo, thou shalt die for the woman thou hast taken; for she hath a husband.

And the men of Sodom were very wicked, and sinners before the face of the Lord, beyond measure.

And Abimelech called also for Abraham, and said to him: What hast thou done to us? What have we offended thee in, that thou hast brought upon me and upon my kingdom a great sin? Thou hast done to us what thou oughtest not to do.

With such words as these, day by day, both the woman was importunate with the young man, and he refused the adultery.

Thou shalt not commit adultery.

I have surveyed all things with my mind, to know, and consider, and seek out wisdom and reason: and to know the wickedness of the fool, and the error of the imprudent:
