So they gave him all the strange gods they had, and the earrings which were in their ears: and he buried them under the turpentine tree, that is behind the city of Sichem.
And all the men of Sichem were gathered together, and all the families of the city of Mello. And they went and made Abimelech king, by the oak that stood in Sichem.
And thou shalt defile the plates of thy graven things of silver, and the garment of thy molten things of gold: and shalt cast them away as the uncleanness of a menstruous woman. Thou shalt say to it: Get thee hence.
Their graven things thou shalt burn with fire. Thou shalt not covet the silver and gold of which they are made: neither shalt thou take to thee any thing thereof, lest thou offend, because it is an abomination to the Lord thy God.
And laying hold of the calf which they had made, he burnt it, and beat it to powder, which he strowed into water, and gave thereof to the children of Israel to drink.
And I will visit upon her the days of Baalim, to whom she burnt incense, and decked herself out with her earrings, and with her jewels, and went after her lovers, and forgot me, saith the Lord.
