And, behold, six men came from the way of the upper gate, which looketh to the north: and each one had his weapon of destruction in his hand. And there was one man in the midst of them clothed with linen, with a writer's inkhorn at his reins. And they went in and stood by the brazen altar.

And he spoke to the man that was clothed with linen, and said: Go in between the wheels that are under the cherubims and fill thy hand with the coals of fire that are between the cherubims and pour them out upon the city. And he went in, in my sight.

He shall be vested with a linen tunick: he shall cover his nakedness with linen breeches: he shall be girded with a linen girdle, and he shall put a linen mitre upon his head. For these are holy vestments: all which he shall put on, after he is washed.

And the seven angels came out of the temple, having the seven plagues, clothed with clean and white linen, and girt about the breasts with golden girdles.

But the high places he took not away: the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places. He built the highest gate of the house of the Lord.

For, behold, I will call together all the families of the kingdoms of the north, saith the Lord: and they shall come, and shall set every one his throne in the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem and upon all the walls thereof round about and upon all the cities of Juda.

He built the high gate of the house of the Lord, and on the wall of Ophel he built much.

He made also an altar of brass twenty cubits long, and twenty cubits broad, and ten cubits high.

And Moses and Aaron, and his sons washed their hands and feet,

And the glory of the Lord of Israel went up from the cherub upon which he was, to the threshold of the house: and he called to the man that was clothed with linen and had a writer's inkhorn at his loins.

And, behold, the man that was clothed with linen, that had the inkhorn at his back, returned the word saying: I have done as thou hast commanded me.

Set up the standard in Sion. Strengthen yourselves, stay not: for I bring evil from the north, and great destruction.

And the likeness of a hand was put forth and took me by a lock of my head: and the spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven and brought me in the vision of God into Jerusalem, near the inner gate that looked toward the north, where was set the idol of jealousy, to provoke to jealousy.

I saw the Lord standing upon the altar, and he said: Strike the hinges, and let the lintels be shook: for there is covetousness in the head of them all, and I will slay the last of them with the sword: there shall be no flight for them: they shall flee, and he that shall flee of them shall not be delivered.
