If a man borrow of his neighbour any of these things, and it be hurt or die, the owner not being present: he shall be obliged to make restitution.

Which shall be celebrated in this order. He to whom any thing is owing from his friend or neighbour or brother, cannot demand it again: because it is the year of remission of the Lord.

He that killeth a beast shall make it good: that is to say, shall give beast for beast.

The owner of the pit shall pay the price of the beasts: and that which is dead shall be his own.

But love ye your enemies: do good, and lend, hoping for nothing thereby: and your reward shall be great, and you shall be the sons of the Highest; for he is kind to the unthankful, and to the evil.

There shall be an oath between them, that he did not put forth his hand to his neighbour's goods. And the owner shall accept of the oath: and he shall not be compelled to make restitution.

Give to him that asketh of thee and from him that would borrow of thee turn not away.

They that render evil for good, have detracted me, because I followed goodness.

And others said: Let us borrow money for the king's tribute; and let us give up our fields and vineyards.

If it were eaten by a beast: let him bring to him that which was slain, and he shall not make restitution.

But if the owner be present, he shall not make restitution: especially if it were hired and came for the hire of his work.
