Thou shalt not hear the words of that prophet or dreamer. For the Lord your God trieth you, that it may appear whether you love him with all your heart, and with all your soul, or not.

Be not wise in thy own conceit: fear God, and depart from evil:

And Samuel said to the people: Fear not. You have done all this evil: but yet depart not from following the Lord; but serve the Lord with all your heart.

Sanctify the Lord of hosts himself: and let him be your fear; and let him be your dread.

By mercy and truth iniquity is redeemed: and by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil.

And he said to man: Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom: and to depart from evil, is understanding.

And thou shalt remember all the way through which the Lord thy God hath brought thee for forty years through the desert, to afflict thee and to prove thee: and that the things that were in thy heart might be made known, whether thou wouldst keep his commandments or no.

After these things, God tempted Abraham, and said to him: Abraham, Abraham. And he answered: Here I am.

Fear not, for I am with thee: turn not aside, for I am thy God. I have strengthened thee and have helped thee: and the right hand of my just one hath upheld thee.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Fools despise wisdom and instruction.

But the former governors that had been before me were chargeable to the people; and took of them in bread, and wine, and in money every day forty sicles: and their officers also oppressed the people. But I did not so for the fear of God.

Now therefore fear the Lord, and serve him with a perfect and most sincere heart. And put away the gods which your fathers served in Mesopotamia and in Egypt, and serve the Lord.

And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee: but that thou fear the Lord thy God, and walk in his ways, and love him, and serve the Lord thy God, with all thy heart, and with all thy soul:

That thou mayst fear the Lord thy God, and keep all his commandments and precepts, which I command thee, and thy sons, and thy grandsons, all the days of thy life, that thy days may be prolonged.

From the day in which thou didst stand before the Lord thy God in Horeb, when the Lord spoke to me, saying: Call together the people unto me, that they may hear my words, and may learn to fear me all the time that they live on the earth, and may teach their children.

And he said to him: Lay not thy hand upon the boy, neither do thou any thing to him. Now I know that thou fearest God, and hast not spared thy only begotten son for my sake.

Abraham answered: I thought with myself, saying: Perhaps there is not the fear of God in this place; and they will kill me for the sake of my wife.

And Moses said to the people: Fear not. Stand and see the great wonders of the Lord, which he will do this day: for the Egyptians, whom you see now, you shall see no more for ever.

And the Lord commanded that we should do all these ordinances, and should fear the Lord our God: that it might be well with us all the days of our life, as it is at this day.

For I am the Lord thy God, who take thee by the hand, and say to thee: Fear not. I have helped thee.

And fed thee in the wilderness with manna which thy fathers knew not. And after he had afflicted and proved thee, at the last he had mercy on thee.
