But he answered: Who hath appointed thee prince and judge over us: wilt thou kill me, as thou didst yesterday kill the Egyptian? Moses feared, and said: How is this come to be known?

But he said to him: Man, who hath appointed me judge, or divider, over you?

And when he was come into the temple, there came to him, as he was teaching, the chief priests and ancients of the people, saying: By what authority dost thou these things? and who hath given thee this authority?

But his citizens hated him: and they sent an embassage after him, saying: We will not have this man to reign over us.

But they said: Get thee back thither. And again: Thou camest in, said they, as a, stranger, was it to be a judge? Therefore we will afflict thee more than them. And they pressed very violently upon Lot: and they were even at the point of breaking open the doors.

This Moses, whom they refused, saying: Who hath appointed thee prince and judge? him God sent to be prince and redeemer by the hand of the angel who appeared to him in the bush.

He that feareth man, shall quickly fall: he that trusteth in the Lord, shall be set on high.

By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the fierceness of the king: for he endured as seeing him that is invisible.

And when they were gone out, the other sons of Jacob came upon the slain; and plundered the city in revenge of the rape.
