Who may judge the people at all times. And when any great matter soever shall fall out, let them refer it to thee, and let them judge the lesser matters only: that so it may be lighter for thee, the burden being shared out unto others.

That I may come down and speak with thee. And I will take of thy spirit, and will give to them, that they may bear with thee the burden of the people: and thou mayest not be burthened alone.

And the princes of the families of Galaad, the son of Machir, the son of Manasses, of the stock of the children of Joseph, came and spoke to Moses before the princes of Israel, and said:

And they judged the people at all times: and whatsoever was of greater difficulty they referred to him: and they judged the easier cases only.

For therefore also you pay tribute. For they are the ministers of God, serving unto this purpose.

Thou are spent with foolish labour, both thou and this people that is with thee: the business is above thy strength. Thou alone canst not bear it.

If thou dost this, thou shalt fulfil the commandment of God, and shalt be able to bear his precepts: and all this people shall return to their places with peace.

And thou Esdras, according to the wisdom of thy God, which is in thy hand, appoint judges and magistrates, that may judge all the people that is beyond the river, that is for them who know the law of thy God. Yea and the ignorant teach ye freely.
