And when Pharao drew near, the children of Israel, lifting up their eyes, saw the Egyptians behind them: and they feared exceedingly, and cried to the Lord.
And the children of Israel cried to the Lord. And he put darkness between you and the Egyptians, and brought the sea upon them, and covered them. Your eyes saw all that I did in Egypt: and you dwelt in the wilderness a long time:
So when the captains of the cavalry saw Josaphat, they said: This is the king of Israel. And they surrounded him to attack him. But he cried to the Lord, and he helped him, and turned them away from him.
And they told the house of David, saying: Syria hath rested upon Ephraim; and his heart was moved, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the woods are moved with the wind.
But he cried to the Lord, and he shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, they were turned into sweetness. There he appointed him ordinances, and judgments, and there he proved him,
Remember, and forget not how thou provokedst the Lord thy God to wrath in the wilderness. From the day that thou camest out of Egypt unto this place, thou hast always strove against the Lord.
And when Pharao had sent out the people, the Lord led them not by the way of the land of the Philistines which is near: thinking lest perhaps they would repent, if they should see wars arise against them, and would return into Egypt.
And I brought you and your fathers out of Egypt: and you came to the sea: and the Egyptians pursued your fathers with chariots and horsemen, as far as the Red Sea.
