For a mixt multitude of people, that came up with them, burned with desire, sitting and weeping, (the children of Israel also being joined with them,) and said: Who shall give us flesh to eat?

Thus saith the Lord of hosts: In those days, wherein ten men of all languages of the Gentiles shall take hold, and shall hold fast the shirt of one that is a Jew, saying: We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.

Moses said: We will go with our young and old, with our sons and daughters, with our sheep and herds: for it is the solemnity of the Lord our God.

So the people were thirsty there for want of water, and murmured against Moses, saying: Why didst thou make us go forth out of Egypt, to kill us and our children, and our beasts with thirst?

And the children of Israel said: We will go by the beaten way: and if we and our cattle drink of thy waters, we will give thee what is just. There shall be no difficulty in the price; only let us pass speedily.

And the sons of Ruben and Gad had many flocks of cattle: and their substance in beasts was infinite. And when they saw the lands of Jazer and Galaad fit for feeding cattle:

Leaving your wives and children and cattle. For I know you have much cattle: and they must remain in the cities, which I have delivered to you,

He left out nothing of those things which Moses had commanded: but he repeated all before all the people of Israel, with the women and children and strangers that dwelt among them.

And it came to pass, when they had heard the law, that they separated every stranger from Israel.

And, behold, there went out the son of a woman of Israel, whom she had of an Egyptian, among the children of Israel: and fell at words in the camp with a man of Israel.
