And it came to pass at midnight, the Lord slew every firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharao, who sat on his throne, unto the firstborn of the captive woman that was in the prison, and all the firstborn of cattle.

Then they took Jeremias and cast him into the dungeon of Melchias the son of Amelech, which was in the entry of the prison: and they let down Jeremias by ropes into the dungeon, wherein there was no water but mire. And Jeremias sunk into the mire.

He shall quickly come that is going to open unto you and he shall not kill unto utter destruction; neither shall his bread fail.

And they shall be gathered together as in the gathering of one bundle into the pit. And they shall be shut up there in prison: and after many days they shall be visited.

They shall suddenly die, and the people shall be troubled at midnight: and they shall pass, and take away the violent without hand.

For every firstborn is mine. Since I struck the firstborn in the land of Egypt, I have sanctified to myself whatsoever is firstborn in Israel both of man and beast. They are mine. I am the Lord.

The Lord therefore did this thing the next day. And all the beasts of the Egyptians died: but of the beasts of the children of Israel there died not one.

And the children of Israel going forth did as the Lord had commanded Moses and Aaron.

Death shall go before his face. And the devil shall go forth before his feet.

But I will judge the nation which they shall serve, and after this they shall come out with great substance.

And the Lord said to Moses: Yet one plague more will I bring upon Pharao and Egypt; and after that he shall let you go, and thrust you out.

Behold, all that fight against thee shall be confounded and ashamed: they shall be as nothing; and the men shall perish that strive against thee.
