For the word of God is living and effectual, and more piercing than any two edged sword; and reaching unto the division of the soul and the spirit, of the joints also and the marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

He put on justice as a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation upon his head: he put on the garments of vengeance and was clad with zeal as with a cloak.

And out of his mouth proceedeth a sharp two edged sword; that with it he may strike the nations. And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness of the wrath of God the Almighty.

But let us, who are of the day, be sober, having on the breastplate of faith and charity, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.

And he hath made my mouth like a sharp sword. In the shadow of his hand he hath protected me and hath made me as a chosen arrow. In his quiver he hath hidden me.

In like manner do penance: if not, I will come to thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of the testimony, and they loved not their lives unto death.

For this reason have I hewed them by the prophets, I have slain them by the words of my mouth: and thy judgments shall go forth as the light.

And he had in his right hand seven stars. And from his mouth came out a sharp two edged sword: and his face was as the sun shineth in his power.

Who answered and said: It is written, Not in bread alone doth man live, but in every word that proceedeth from the mouth of God.

Jesus said to him: It is written again: Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

And he had a helmet of brass upon his head; and he was clothed with a coat of mail with scales. And the weight of his coat of mail was five thousand sicles of brass.

And Saul said to him: Young man, of what family art thou? And David said: I am the son of thy servant Isai the Bethlehemite.

Thou hast given me the shield of my salvation: and thy mildness hath multiplied me.

And he answered, and spoke to me, saying: This is the word of the Lord to Zorobabel, saying: Not with an army, nor by might, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.

That he might sanctify it, cleansing it by the laver of water in the word of life:

Have moreover tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
