It is not in man's power to stop the spirit, neither hath he power in the day of death, neither is he suffered to rest when war is at hand, neither shall wickedness save the wicked.

The days of man are short, and the number of his months is with thee: thou hast appointed his bounds which cannot be passed.

And as it is appointed unto men once to die, and after this the judgment:

For you have said: We have entered into a league with death, and we have made a covenant with hell. When the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come upon us: for we have placed our hope in lies, and by falsehood we are protected.

Who knoweth if the spirit of the children of Adam ascend upward, and if the spirit of the beasts descend downward?

The wicked man shall be driven out in his wickedness: but the just hath hope in his death.

The Lord shall be known when he executeth judgments: the sinner hath been caught in the works of his own hands.

For although he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him: but we shall live with him by the power of God towards you.

It is sown in dishonour, it shall rise in glory. It is sown in weakness, it shall rise in power.

And your league with death shall be abolished, and your covenant with hell shall not stand. When the overflowing scourge shall pass, you shall be trodden down by it.

If he turn his heart to him, he shall draw his spirit and breath unto himself.

We all die, and like waters that return no more we fall down into the earth. Neither will God have a soul to perish, but recalleth; meaning that he that is cast off should not altogether perish.

And they went after them as far as the Jordan. And, behold, all the way was full of garments, and vessels, which the Syrians had cast away in their fright. And the messengers returned and told the king.

But let it not be well with the wicked, neither let his days be prolonged, but as a shadow let them pass away that fear not the face of the Lord.

Men shall not be strengthened by wickedness: and the root of the just shall not be moved.

Man knoweth not his own end: but as fishes are taken with the hook, and as birds are caught with the snare, so men are taken in the evil time, when it shall suddenly come upon them.

And thou best trusted in thy wickedness, and hast said: There is none that seeth me. Thy wisdom and thy knowledge, this hath deceived thee. And thou hast said in thy heart: I am, and besides me there is no other.
