So Lot went out, and spoke to his sons-in-law that were to have his daughters, and said: Arise: get you out of this place, because the Lord will destroy this city. And he seemed to them to speak as it were in jest.

There was a certain rich man, who was clothed in purple and fine linen; and feasted sumptuously every day.

Neither shall their silver and their gold be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the Lord: all the land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy, for he shall make even a speedy destruction of all them that dwell in the land.

Riches shall not profit in the day of revenge: but justice shall deliver from death.

The turning away of little ones shall kill them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.

So the wage of every covetous man destroy the souls of the possessors.

And he brought back all the substance, and Lot his brother, with his substance, the women also the people.

But Zacheus standing, said to the Lord: Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have wronged any man of any thing, I restore him fourfold.

In that day a man shall cast away his idols of silver and his idols of gold, which he had made for himself to adore, moles and bats.

And his wife looking behind her was turned into a statue of salt.

And yet his belly was not filled. And when he hath the things he coveted, he shall not be able to possess them.

As he came forth naked from his mother's womb, so shall he return, and shall take nothing away with him of his labour.

Labour not to be rich: but set bounds to thy prudence.

For thou shalt not always have power: but a crown shall be given to generation and generation.
