Take heed, and beware lest at any time thou forget the Lord thy God, and neglect his commandments and judgments and ceremonies, which I command thee this day.
Lest perhaps being filled, I should be tempted to deny, and say: Who is the Lord? or being compelled by poverty, I should steal, and forswear the name of my God.
That when they shall see them, they may remember all the commandments of the Lord, and not follow their own thoughts and eyes going astray after divers things.
Keep thyself therefore, and thy soul carefully. Forget not the words that thy eyes have seen: and let them not go out of thy heart all the days of thy life. Thou shalt teach them to thy sons and to thy grandsons,
And thou hast forgotten the Lord thy maker, who stretched out the heavens and founded the earth: and thee hast been afraid continually all the day at the presence of his fury who afflicted thee, and had prepared himself to destroy thee. Where is now the fury of the oppressor?
And now, O Israel, hear the commandments and judgments which I teach thee that doing them thou mayst live, and entering in mayst possess the land which the Lord the God of your fathers will give you.
