Why then was the law? It was set because of transgressions, until the seed should come, to whom he made the promise, being ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

And now the third day was come, and the morning appeared: and, behold, thunders began to be heard, and lightning to flash, and a very thick cloud to cover the mount. And the noise of the trumpet sounded exceeding loud, and the people that was in the camp, feared.

And they turned themselves from thence, and went their way to Sodom: but Abraham as yet stood before the Lord.

He said unto him: Go down, and charge the people; lest they should have a mind to pass the limits to see the Lord, and a very great multitude of them should perish.

And Moses went down to the people and told them all.

He destroyed the high places, and broke the statues in pieces, and cut down the groves, and broke the brazen serpent, which Moses had made. For till that time the children of Israel burnt incense to it: and he called its name Nohestan.
