The seventh is the day of the sabbath, that is, the rest of the Lord thy God. Thou shalt not do any work therein: thou nor thy son nor thy daughter, nor thy man-servant nor thy maid-servant, nor thy ox, nor thy ass, nor any of thy beasts, nor the stranger that is within thy gates: that thy man-servant and thy maid-servant may rest, even as thyself.

For in a certain place he spoke of the seventh day thus: And God rested the seventh day from all his works.

And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made: and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had done.

Six days thou shalt work: the seventh day thou shalt cease; that thy ox and thy ass may rest, and the son of thy handmaid and the stranger may be refreshed.

And I charged them, and I said to them: Why stay you before the wall? If you do so another time, I will lay hands on you. And from that time they came no more on the sabbath.

And now our flesh is as the flesh of our brethren; and our children as their children. Behold, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters; and some of our daughters are bondwomen already. Neither have we wherewith to redeem them; and our fields and our vineyards other men possess.

In those days, I saw in Juda some treading the presses on the sabbath, and carrying sheaves, and lading asses with wine, and grapes, and figs, and all manner of burthens, and bringing them into Jerusalem on the sabbath day. And I charged them that they should sell on a day on which it was lawful to sell.

And he said to them: The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath.

And returning, they prepared spices and ointments; and on the sabbath day they rested, according to the commandment.

Six days shall ye do work: the seventh day, because it is the rest of the sabbath, shall be called holy. You shall do no work on that day: it is the sabbath of the Lord in all your habitations.

Six days shalt thou labour, and shalt do all thy works.

Some Tyrians also dwelt there, who brought fish, and all manner of wares. And they sold them on the sabbaths to the children of Juda in Jerusalem.
